Composite fillings, often called white fillings or tooth-colored fillings, are a used to repair teeth that are decayed or chipped. Frequently, they are use to replace the black sliver amalgam fillings that were used in decades past. Silver-mercury amalgam fillings have been in use for well over a century. While they are effective, they can darken and appear to others as dark and ugly. Today, the bonding of composite filling materials allow us to create more conservative and attractive restorations. No more black fillings!
